Our NAP lost out in a photo finish yesterday, which was gutting to say the least. Today we’re tempted by a few powerful connections hoping to cash in at the smaller tracks.
3:00 Brighton – Cosmopolitan Girl (10/3)
Joe Fanning will carry top weight aboard this consistent four-year-old, who makes his first start back for Robert Cowell. The four-year-old ran three races last year, with one victory coming in a maiden at Bath. She ran well in big handicaps at Yarmouth and Ascot and could go well despite being on a career-high mark.
4:20 Nottingham – Midnight Vixen NAP (3/1)
One of racing’s finest teams are Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore, the pair combine with Midnight Vixen in handicap company this afternoon. She has enjoyed two fourth place finishes, before chasing home guineas contender Unforgettable Filly at Lingfield when last seen in September. She should appreciate the step up in trip, and could run a big race on her seasonal debut.
8:10 Chelmsford – Independence Day (9/2)
Our second Robert Cowell selection, and one that may hold a strong chance in a weaker race. He was an intriguing runner at the Craven meeting, but could only finish seventh under the hands of Ryan Moore. That race seemed a lot tougher, and he has been dropped down the weights for what was a decent effort. His Irish form puts him up there with a massive chance, most notably finishing second in a Group Three contest.
