It’s Sagaro day at Ascot and plenty of big names are on offer at the Berkshire track. We have two selections from Ascot and one from Pontefract. Can we build on yesterday’s winner?
2:35 Ascot – Icespire
This three-year-old was hugely impressive on her debut, winning by four lengths in a competitive looking maiden. She is exceptionally well bred, and should improve on from that Sailsbury win last October. The strong duo John Gosden and Frankie Dettori may well have a pattern horse on offer in this handicap.
3:45 Ascot – Blue Point NAP
A Godolphin prospect who could be set for a good season for Charlie Appleby. The three-year-old enjoyed a consistent, yet successful juvenile season, winning at Group Two level. He was last seen finishing third in the Dewhurst, and should play a leading role in this Group Three contest. He could be an exciting prospect, and his form last year puts him well ahead of this field.
5:10 Pontefract – Intense Romance
Michael Dods and Paul Mulrennan team up with this nice looking three-year-old. He has enjoyed a good campaign so far, racing four times and winning twice. Last time out he finished third in a big field handicap at Ripon, and that form puts him up there with a good chance. He may need to step up a bit, but he is more than capable.
