Three times vying for the title, seven teams with a shout of the playoffs, and two teams battling to avoid relegation. A day set to be full of drama, what do we think will happen?
The Title Race:
We are now on the final stretch of the marathon that has been the League 2 season, Plymouth Argyle sat top on 86, Doncaster Rovers and Portsmouth the other candidates on 85 and 84 respectively.
Doncaster Rovers travel to relegation-threatened Hartlepool United. I find it very difficult to look past the Rovers, with it all to play for at the top they will be keen to send their fans off with a trophy. Doncaster will win this, spelling trouble for the Pools.
Plymouth travel to Grimsby Town, a side who have only pride to play for now. Argyle fans would love to see their side win the league after the heartbreak of losing in the playoffs last year. With the excellent Graham Carey in their side, I think we will see a dominant Plymouth display.
Portsmouth play Cheltenham Town, Pompey will be happy with promotion, especially given the size of the club. The are well supported and could this be the beginning of a Pompey revival? I think they will win on the weekend but that won’t be good enough to see them win the league.
I think Plymouth will win the league. You can get them at 4/5 from Betfred.
The Playoff places:
As many as six teams could finish in the playoffs on Saturday, the spaces are currently occupied by Carlisle and Blackpool.
Blackpool face Leyton Orient and with their far superior goal difference, I fancy them to take up one of the spots.
As for the other position, it is between Carlisle, Stevenage and Colchester. I think Colchester will just sneak in. Carlisle just haven’t been good enough as of late and need to improve on Saturday
You can get Blackpool at 2/7 from Paddy Power.
You can also get Colchester at 10/3 from SkyBet.
The final relegation spot.
It is the most dreaded spot in the Football League, once you drop out it is very hard to get back in, as Tranmere and Luton found out. Newport County are sat in the commanding position knowing that anything but a Hartlepool United win will see them safe.
The Exiles take on Notts County on Saturday in what is expected to be played in front of a bumper crowd of 7,500. I think they will finish the #MissionFlynnpossible job and remain in the Football League. However, I think they will find it hard to beat Notts County I can see a draw.
You can get a draw in the Newport County game at 23/10 from Sporting Bet.
