Wednesday Tips: Our selections on the opening day at Chester

It’s day one of the Chester meeting, and we have our four selections for the ITV4 races. Fingers crossed we can build on yesterday’s NAP success.

1:50 Chester – Requinto Dawn (11/4)

This looks set to be a close contest between Emilia James and Requinto Dawn, and I’m going for the latter for Richard Fahey. He looked really classy when winning a division of the Brockesby, and ran well again when second and carrying a penalty. A competitive race again, but he looks very promising.

2:25 Chester – Alluringly NAP (11/8)

A really promising sort who was massively impressive last time out for Aidan O’Brien. She looks sure to have a chance in the Oaks this season, with exceptional breeding. She’s going the right way and I suggest she is worth a good bit on!

3:00 Chester – El Astronaute (5/2)

El Astronaute and Majestic Hero crossed the line together at Newmarket earlier this season, and both look to hold good chances once again. The former gets the verdict, he will have an ideal draw, and this race looks to suit him very well.

3:35 Chester – Who Dares Wins (5/1), Golden Spear (9/1) e/w

The well regarded Who Dares Wins has to hold a good chance, and it’s brilliant to see the great Tom Marquand get a chance in the big race. He could be very hard to beat. Golden Spear has to have a chance, he suits big handicaps and has looked progressive. The trip should be no bother and he’s a nice price with Ryan Moore in the saddle.

7:55 Chelmsford – Fabricate (5/2)

The Queen is represented by this nice looking five-year-old who could have success on the all-weather surface. He’s run well in big handicaps and has run well over a similar trip in a listed race. He looks a nice prospect and holds a great chance.
